Chai , Pakora and Baarish - MONSOON DIARIES

Rain, rain everywhere.....whether its a boon or bane....Lets find out that
Monsoons are here and my heart is going la la la...you will understand it if you live in a hot subtropical country as I do. Rains are very important. A major chunk of the Indian economy depends on the timely arrival of these water showers.

Finally the air conditioners are on rest mode and the fans are running at their minimum speed specially at nights. It's best time to have chai (tea) and pakoras (potato and onion fritters) while sitting besides your large sized glass window and to gaze upon the rain droplets as they strike the dry land and soil. The vegetation around looks more greener and lively. Nothing else can soothe eyes more than this picturesque scene of nature's beauty.

However this season can get tough for those especially those who have to report to the office every weekday and don't have the privilege of working from home as many of us today have. Traffic jams, water filled pot holes on the roads- a major threat, water logging due incompetence of our municipal corporations can make the whole experience quite daunting opposed to the rosy picture that the second paragraph of the article paints. So what are the solutions or hacks to avoid these bad experiences? Lets see some of them.

1. Buy and apply waterproof makeup while stepping out of the house if you don't wish to look like a zombie on reaching your workplace. Go for something light and don't over do it. Be minimalist.

2. Purchase and wear plastic footwear. Crocs are the best option if you are looking for one. But some cheaper  alternatives are also available and you can definitely check them out as well. Keep an extra pair of shoes in your office desk, just to be on a safer side.

3. Carry a waterproof bag and keep an extra piece of clothing in it in case you rains are not showing any mercy to you.

4. Don't do buns or ponytails. You hair may get  wet while coming out of the car or office instead use a clutcher, headband or half tie can prove to be beneficial.

5. Take work from home if that option is available at your workplace to avoid unnecessary agony to mind by getting stuck in traffic jams on the rainy days.

6. keep your self warm to avoid getting cold or seasonal fever.

I hope you found the tips useful and do let me know if you have any additions. Write them in the comment section below. See you all in my next post.
